Recommended settings

After setting up your Enpass app, we recommended turning on some features that enhance your experience, including settings for quickly unlocking Enpass with biometrics, automatically checking your Items for unsafe passwords, setting up autofill tools, and using website logos as icons for your Items. (Some of these features will appear in a Quick Setup panel at the end of the setup process.)

In Enpass for Android, we recommend setting up:

  • Biometrics

    • Unlock Enpass with a facial recognition or fingerprints, making your Master Password necessary only after restarting your device

    • Biometrics options can be accessed in Settings > Security > Auto Locking

  • Autofill

    • Enable Enpass to fill your logins credentials, payment details, and more in apps and websites

    • Autofill options can be accessed in Settings > Autofill

  • Check for Compromised Passwords

    • Have Enpass alert you to unsafe passwords in the Password Audit tool

    • Checking for compromised passwords can be turned on in Settings > Advanced

    • Learn more about Password Auditing

  • Use website logos as icons for your items

    • Enpass can automatically save logos as the icons for Item in your Enpass vaults

    • To use website logos, go to Settings > General > Use Website Icons

Security in Android when unlocking Enpass with biometrics

When you activate biometrics in your Enpass settings on Android, Enpass stores an encrypted version of your Master Password in the Android Keystore. It can only be accessed by Enpass, and only when you attempt to unlock Enpass though face or fingerprint recognition.

When new fingerprints are to your device biometrics, the Keystore copy of your Master Password is erased, and the Master Password will be required to unlock Enpass one time. Once unlocked, your Master Password is saved again to the Android Keystore.

If you turn off biometrics in your Enpass settings, Enpass erases the Master Password from the Android Keystore, and the Master Password will be required for all attempts to unlock Enpass.

(You can read more details about this security in the Enpass security white paper).
